Two sleeps until Scotty Cam floats back into a hot air balloon and season 22 officially kicks off, and The Block is doing exactly what it does in the run-up: not much, loudly. Reddit’s mostly staring wistfully at old seasons while it waits, the mastheads are filing dispatches from Mount Eliza’s coffee strip, and somewhere a production crew is being fed better than most restaurants manage. Here’s what passed for Block chatter today.
What Blockheads Are Saying
r/TheBlock isn’t exactly buzzing this close to launch, no reveal yet means no reveal drama to pick over, but one thread cut through anyway. A rewatch request, “Which season?”, turned into a mini referendum on what the show has become, and one longtime viewer wasn’t feeling generous about it.
Now it’s just about styling, not the reno anymore

That’s the sting buried in an otherwise cosy nostalgia thread: a viewer who renovated their own place off the back of the early seasons arguing that now it’s just about styling, not the reno anymore. Nobody in the thread was rude about it, they mostly just wanted recommendations (Triple Threat and the Blocktagon got the votes), but the show’s own subreddit taking a swipe at its current form two days before a premiere isn’t the warmest send-off.
What the Mastheads Ran Today
Actual news was thin on the ground, understandably, since the show hasn’t aired a frame yet. The best of it came from TV Blackbox, which sent a Postcards crew down to Mount Eliza and got foreman Dan to spill on where the cast and crew have actually been eating between takes, with a cafe, a bakery and a couple of restaurants all copping the on-air plug. It’s the most substantial thing anyone’s published about the show today; everything else still circulating (start date, cast list, judges, the Uptown/Downtown precinct split) is premiere-countdown material that’s been doing the rounds since mid-July and doesn’t count as today’s news.
Two more sleeps. Check back Monday when there’s actually a reveal to argue about.
