Meet Tayla and Rick Peroomal: The Father-Daughter Team Taking On The Block 2026

Meet Tayla and Rick Peroomal, green team graphic

Among the five teams confirmed for The Block 2026 in the show’s first official teaser, the father-daughter pairing of Tayla and Rick Peroomal is shaping up as one of the season’s most intriguing combinations: decades of hands-on building experience matched with a sharp eye for aesthetics.

Update (9 July 2026): Nine’s official trailer confirms Tayla and Rick as the green team, and reveals the pair are self-declared superfans of host Scott Cam. See all five teams in our team colours breakdown.

Who Are Tayla and Rick?

The Peroomals hail from Melbourne, giving them something of a home-ground advantage at the Mount Eliza site on the Mornington Peninsula. Rick has been running his own building business, T&S Restorations, since 1995, putting more than three decades of renovation and construction experience on the table. That kind of tenure on the tools is rare among Block contestants, many of whom arrive with comparatively limited hands-on building backgrounds.

Tayla brings a different but complementary skill set. She owns The Brow Sanctuary, a beauty studio in Williamstown specialising in brow sculpting and cosmetic treatments, and has also worked as a personal trainer. That combination of aesthetic sensibility and physical fitness could prove useful across both the design decisions and the physical demands of a Block build.

Family and Following

Tayla is a mother and has built a social media following of her own, while her twin sister Shannen Jai Peroomal has a considerably larger profile, with over 200,000 Instagram followers and a role co-hosting the Still Not Straight podcast. Whether that extended family profile translates into additional attention for the Peroomals’ season run remains to be seen.

What to Expect

Industry watchers have flagged the father-daughter combination as one of the more balanced pairings in this year’s field, pairing Rick’s structural and trade knowledge with Tayla’s styling instincts. Given the show’s history of design-led teams performing well when paired with genuine building competence, the Peroomals could be ones to watch once renovation challenges begin.

The Block 2026 premieres on Sunday 2 August 2026 on Channel Nine and 9Now, confirmed in the official trailer released on 9 July. Full team profiles are on our The Block 2026 hub.

The Block 2026 season in review: Rick and Tayla

Rick and Tayla (green team, House 5) were often near the bottom of the room reveals and finished by winning the last week. They took the main ensuite and then the front yard and gardens, which came with $50,000 off their reserve. At auction, House 5 sold for $4,355,000, which is $905,000 over the $3,450,000 reserve and the second-biggest profit of the five houses. See every result on our auction results page.

Their season in scores

  • Kitchen: 4th, 25.5/30
  • Family bathroom: 4th, 18.5/30
  • Main ensuite: 1st, 26/30
  • Front yard and gardens final: 1st, 27.5, one point clear of Adam and Jolene

The moments and feuds people talked about

  • A streak in the challenges: the $10,000 dog kennel challenge and a bonus-point gnome in episode 16, relay wins the same day, and $5,000 for hardest worker in episode 15.
  • The fireplace: five design versions and 158 phone calls before it was approved in episode 20.
  • Rick off site: he was away from the build in episode 21, so Tayla finished the room without him.
  • Money and agents: a $30,000 blowout on the living and dining budget in episode 22, and Tayla swapping real estate agents mid-build.
  • The plasterer: a quote of $15,000 a room became $6,500 once a rival crew was in the picture (episode 26).
  • Street feuds: the Freedom tile stoush with Jolene (episodes 30 to 32), the olive tree repossession fight with Wyatt (episodes 31 and 32) and the swapped pool tiles with Chantel (episode 40).

Where they won and lost the season

The ensuite and the gardens were their wins, helped by a bespoke water feature at the entrance. The losses were the guest suite, which drew the harshest verdict of the season in episode 25, and the rumpus room, which the judges said read like a holiday home. Unfinished paint on the butler’s pantry also cost them a shot at kitchen of the day in episode 29.
