Scotty’s blown a fuse, the internet’s threatening a boycott, and somewhere in Mount Eliza a guest bedroom soundtrack has quietly been outsourced to a computer. What Blockheads Are Saying
Reddit’s verdict on episode two split two ways: fury at Scott Cam for exploding at Wyatt over the word “stitch-up”, and fury at the show itself over what viewers reckon is AI creeping into the edit. The r/TheBlock boycott thread pulled 159 upvotes and counting, with one commenter summing up the mood: “Sick of seeing AI everywhere, and we know they can afford better.” A second thread arguing the show has “done its time” piled on, with one Blockhead dismissing the whole build as “a dumpster fire of plasterboard and chipboard stapled together.” Not exactly a five-star review, but Blockheads keep tuning in to complain, which is its own kind of loyalty.
What the Mastheads Ran Today
The numbers back up the drama. TV Tonight reports The Block edged out The Voice on Monday night, 965,000 viewers to 890,000, with only A Current Affair’s Keli Lane special beating Nine’s reno block to the win (also covered by TV Blackbox’s Monday VOZ wrap). Not a blockbuster start, but enough to keep Scotty on air, and apparently on edge.
TV Blackbox’s episode two recap did the heavy lifting on plot: Sev sneaking a phone photo of House 4’s floorplan while it sat unattended, Rick and Tayla insulating an entire guest suite before realising it wasn’t the guest bedroom, and Scott Cam erupting at Wyatt for daring to say “stitch-up” (“Do not say those words to me!”). The site’s own viewer roundup found plenty of fans piling onto this year’s score and editing as feeling AI-assisted, the same complaint driving tonight’s Reddit pile-on.
