Meet Tayla and Rick Peroomal: The Father-Daughter Team Taking On The Block 2026

Among the five teams confirmed for The Block 2026 in the show’s first official teaser, the father-daughter pairing of Tayla and Rick Peroomal is shaping up as one of the season’s most intriguing combinations: decades of hands-on building experience matched with a sharp eye for aesthetics.

Who Are Tayla and Rick?

The Peroomals hail from Melbourne, giving them something of a home-ground advantage at the Mount Eliza site on the Mornington Peninsula. Rick has been running his own building business, T&S Restorations, since 1995, putting more than three decades of renovation and construction experience on the table. That kind of tenure on the tools is rare among Block contestants, many of whom arrive with comparatively limited hands-on building backgrounds.

Tayla brings a different but complementary skill set. She owns The Brow Sanctuary, a beauty studio in Williamstown specialising in brow sculpting and cosmetic treatments, and has also worked as a personal trainer. That combination of aesthetic sensibility and physical fitness could prove useful across both the design decisions and the physical demands of a Block build.

Family and Following

Tayla is a mother and has built a social media following of her own, while her twin sister Shannen Jai Peroomal has a considerably larger profile, with over 200,000 Instagram followers and a role co-hosting the Still Not Straight podcast. Whether that extended family profile translates into additional attention for the Peroomals’ season run remains to be seen.

What to Expect

Industry watchers have flagged the father-daughter combination as one of the more balanced pairings in this year’s field, pairing Rick’s structural and trade knowledge with Tayla’s styling instincts. Given the show’s history of design-led teams performing well when paired with genuine building competence, the Peroomals could be ones to watch once renovation challenges begin.

The Block 2026 has not yet had its premiere date confirmed by Channel Nine, though based on the show’s usual scheduling pattern, a late July or August debut remains the most likely window. We’ll have full contestant profiles for all five teams as Channel Nine’s official reveal draws closer.
