The Block 2026 Episode 36: What r/TheBlock Actually Thought

Jury night, and r/TheBlock came for blood: a genuine underdog winner, a sponsor-brand scandal with a very funny name, and a congratulations row that somehow made Jolene the main character again.

The jury got it right (for once)

House 1 (Jolene and Adam) took it out with 29% of the Domain Buyers Jury vote, with House 3 (Lisa and Roscoe) close behind on 23-24%. The thread was broadly fine with that. What it was not fine with was House 4 (Courtney and Sev) limping home last on 13-15%, despite being the presumed front runners all season. Several commenters pointed to the rooftop terrace they’d promised buyers without ever nailing down council approval: style over substance, judged accordingly.

Enter the Candyman

The thread’s real discovery of the night: Chantel’s brother-in-law is Travers Beynon, the Gold Coast millionaire better known as “the Candyman” for his lavish parties. House 2 finishing a close third suddenly looked a lot less random to a thread already primed to see a fix. Nobody’s accusing production of anything outright, but “prearranged buyer” got floated more than once, and the show’s own rules against family members buying houses did not go unmentioned.

Jolene wants her flowers (just not for anyone else)

Winning House 1 should have been Jolene’s victory lap. Instead the thread fixated on her being visibly annoyed nobody rushed to congratulate her, which landed badly given her own track record of not exactly throwing bouquets at other teams’ wins this season. “Pot, kettle” was the general verdict, delivered with the kind of glee reserved for a contestant who’s been quietly building a reputation all year.

Everything else, all at once

House 4’s campaign banner for Adam and Jolene got roasted as full Soviet propaganda chic. Tayla’s tattoo pop-up was cancelled over a missing permit, which the thread found funnier than it probably should have. Danny Wallis made his dislike of Houses 2 and 5 known yet again, and the McCafe baristas were back doing their recurring bit, which half the thread insists is a production plant at this point. Lando discourse, somehow, is still going.

The ad load discourse continues

Google’s AI weather gag and the “new technology” virtual tour plug for the Domain app both got the usual eye roll, the thread pointing out that virtual tours have existed for about fifteen years. Minor win for the night: no AI-generated music to complain about, which several people noted with the weary relief of a thread that has been burned before.

Verdict

A genuinely shock result, a buyer scandal with a nickname too good to invent, and Jolene somehow making her own win about everyone else. Next episode had better explain itself on House 4’s jury snub, because this thread is not letting it go.
