That, and a missing power tool that turned into the most heated exchange of the season. Children really do ruin everything, even when there aren’t any on site.

Courtney and Sev took the week with 29.5 out of 30, and nobody is really arguing they didn’t deserve the win. What fans are arguing about is the maths. Marty and Shaynna both handed out 10s, while Darren shaved off half a point because the laundry skirting wasn’t finished. Cue the obvious question from the couch: how does an unfinished room get two perfect scores? As one viewer put it, “Unfinished or damaged rooms get 2 x 10?? Judging’s a letdown.” Another landed on the fairest take going, that the pair deserved the win but not a 10 for an unfinished room.
WHO rounded up the reaction, and helpfully dug up precedent: the judges have withheld 10s for unfinished skirting before. So either the rules changed, or Marty was simply too cosy in that acoustic-panelled cocoon to notice.

Courtney and Sev win again, and Darren goes big. Darren called the winning space “hands down my favourite room” on The Block so far. Home Beautiful also covered the reveal and asked whether the judges got it right, while WHO took the skirting board angle. Lisa and Rosco also picked up the CommBank budgeting prize for a second straight week, the quietest flex on site.
