Before anyone could pick up a trowel this week, the street did a lap of last week’s main bedrooms, and Courtney and Sev’s “high-end coffin” got the reaction you’d expect from five teams standing in a room decorated like a funeral home. “We’re in a coffin,” Sev admitted, walking her own guests through it. “A really high-end coffin.” Then Scott Cam sent everyone straight into main ensuite week, and the coffin jokes had to wait, because this time almost every team is starting from behind.

The episode opened with the street’s own verdict on last week’s rooms, and it wasn’t kind to Courtney and Sev. “I feel like bodies need to be laid to rest on that bed,” Rick said, wandering through their main bedroom, before the group settled on “Dracula’s dungeon” and, eventually, “a really nice place to die.” The DIY marble mosaic tiling copped it too: “Look at the edges of these tiles. It’s terrible,” while everyone agreed the fireplace itself was gorgeous. Then came the walk-through of Lisa and Rosco’s winning room, where the penny properly dropped for the group that the walk-in robe they were admiring wasn’t Lisa and Rosco’s design at all. “Also, you know Lisa and Rosco designed their wardrobe because they swapped houses,” one contestant pointed out, to a chorus of groans. “You’re welcome, Lisa and Rosco.”
Main ensuite week kicked off with a $20,000 CommBank budget and immediate scepticism from everyone doing the sums. Courtney and Sev, fresh off a $53,272 blowout on their last bathroom, were already tracking toward $24,149.21 before a tile had been laid, an over-spend Scott flagged the moment the numbers came in. Lisa and Rosco had bigger problems: their plan to remove the ensuite window and add a double shower hit a hard no from the build team, sparking Rosco’s now-signature move of settling an argument with an audio emoji (“Ring the boss? I don’t want to be around when she’s…”) and, when that failed to land, an actual fart sound effect. “Put on your big girl pants,” came the verdict down the phone. “It’s a window.”
Down the road, Courtney’s week took a genuinely scary turn when she went into SVT, a heart condition that spikes her resting rate from around 70 beats per minute to over 200. Rather than call an ambulance, she rang Lisa, a paramedic, who talked her through vascular manoeuvres over the phone (essentially breathing hard into an imaginary syringe while lying with her legs in the air) and got her heart rate back down on the third attempt. “I’m not embarrassed by having SVT,” Courtney said afterwards, “but it can be embarrassing when I can’t talk and just function as a normal human.” Elsewhere, Adam and Jolene simply had no chippies turn up, a no-show that left them openly worried about finishing at all, while Rick and Tayla’s phone number, handed out over the walkie-talkies for tiler contacts, ended up misdialled into a stranger’s house.
The night wrapped with last week’s winners, Lisa and Rosco, off on a Chery-sponsored spa getaway that could not have landed at a worse moment for a team already behind. Rosco spent much of it visibly checked out, worrying about the unfinished room back home, before a surprise pool session ended with him modelling see-through women’s “boy leg” undies for three grown men. “I quickly forget about my stress at The Block,” he admitted, “when you’ve got girls’ pants on.” Back at the share house, Darren Palmer turned up uninvited to the losers’ table with a full slideshow on market segments, colour psychology and, for Courtney and Sev specifically, a step-by-step breakdown of exactly how many points an unfinished bathroom costs. “The ten points I’ve got available to me are broken into four categories,” he explained. “Quarter for finish. If you don’t finish, that’s straight off the top.” By the time the credits rolled, Adam and Jolene’s missing chippies were still missing, and the whole street was staring down a genuinely brutal week.
“Put on your big girl pants. It’s a window.”

A missing crew, a missing window and a heart scare, and that’s still only Monday. Main ensuite week has plenty more to give before Sunday’s reveal, so we’ll see you back here for tomorrow’s instalment.
