Wednesday’s episode had r/TheBlock’s live thread lit up within minutes, and most of the heat landed on the show’s new enthusiasm for artificial intelligence. Over at WHO, two separate pieces chased the same undercurrent as the Reddit thread. Channel Nine defended its AI-heavy edit, with post-production executive producer David Barbour insisting the talking animals and AI jingles are “another creative tool” rather than a replacement for the show’s heart, a line unlikely to placate anyone threatening a boycott. WHO also ran a separate piece on fans’ long-running gripe with the show’s million-dollar house prices, featuring real estate agent Mark Nunn explaining why The Block keeps building for buyers most of the country can’t afford.
