What Blockheads Are Saying
The night’s top voted post (98 upvotes, 41 comments) wasn’t even about the budget drama. It was Wyatt smacking his head on a blind on his way out to confront production, which one Redditor called the best part of tonight’s episode, and possibly this entire series.
The real heat, though, was in the thread reacting to Scott Cam and executive producer Julian Cress’s apology after a duplicated invoice made it look like Chantel and Wyatt had blown their budget by ten grand. Commenters weren’t buying the full mea culpa, with one accusing the show of running the accusation Sunday night and only fixing it once the damage was done: “zero integrity.” And given how many times Wyatt used that exact word during the sit down apology, the ribbing wrote itself: as one commenter put it, it reminded him to say integrity a few more times.
What the Mastheads Ran Today
TV Blackbox had the most detail on the budget saga, walking through how the accounting software double counted a builder’s invoice from Chantel and Wyatt, and how Wyatt refused to accept the mix up was accidental until Scott Cam and Julian Cress fronted up in person to apologise (also covered by New Idea and Now to Love, both running their own interviews with the couple about how the accusation made them feel).
Elsewhere, the ratings watchers had better news for Nine. TV Tonight reported The Block topped Monday’s entertainment slate with 1.28 million viewers, comfortably ahead of The Voice and 7:30 (also covered by B&T, which had the numbers for Sunday’s reveal too). Drama, it turns out, rates.
