The two Block 2025 houses that failed to sell at the October 2025 Daylesford auction have had their prices slashed again, and for the first time in the show’s history, homes from a prior season remain on the market as a new season prepares to go to air.
The Price Cuts
Han and Can’s house at 4 Cedar Lane, Daylesford, which had a reserve of $2,990,000 and was passed in with a vendor bid of $3.1 million at the October 2025 auction, has now been slashed to $2.59 million, a drop of $400,000. Emma and Ben’s house next door also had a reserve of $2,990,000 and was also passed in at $3.1 million. It is now priced at $2.6 million.
Selling agent Aaron Hill of Ray White Sunbury, who handles Emma and Ben’s house, told Domain: “The reserve was set too high. And at the end of the day, my contestants aren’t going to make any money. They won’t make a cent. The one good thing is they are happy they had a good time. They loved every minute of it.”
A Historic First
This marks the first time in the show’s history that houses from a prior season have remained unsold ahead of a new season debut. Filming for The Block 2026 at Mount Eliza has already wrapped, and Channel Nine has released its first trailer for the new season, making the continued presence of unsold 2025 homes on the market an uncomfortable backdrop for the premiere campaign.
Three Homes on the Market at Once
Adding further complexity to the situation, Sonny and Alicia’s property at 2 Cedar Lane, which sold under the hammer at the 2025 auction finale for $3.06 million, has been relisted with a price guide of $2.9 million to $3 million by the investor who purchased it, citing a change in personal circumstances.
The relisting means three of the five homes from the 2025 season are now simultaneously on the market, with two neighbouring properties having failed to sell on auction night. All three sit on Cedar Lane in Daylesford at similar price points, competing for the same pool of buyers.
Why Did the Daylesford Season Struggle?
The 2025 Block season set reserves of $2.99 million across all five houses, more than $2 million above Daylesford’s median house price at the time. After learning of the reserves the Friday before auction day, all five teams lobbied Channel Nine to have them reduced. The network declined. As one selling agent put it after the fact, the homes themselves were rarely the problem. The disconnect between the product and the local buyer pool was the core issue.
The move to Mount Eliza for the 2026 season is widely seen as a direct response to that controversy, with local properties regularly transacting above $3 million in a market comfortable with prestige pricing. Whether buyers emerge for the three remaining Daylesford homes before the new season dominates the news cycle remains to be seen.
Where Are the 2025 Teams Now?
Despite the property disappointment, most of the 2025 teams have moved on positively. Winners Britt and Taz purchased a $1.41 million hobby farm in Western Australia in February 2026, named Hazelwood Estate. Emma and Ben sold their own home and purchased a $920,000 Mount Martha fixer-upper. Mat Johnson became a father via IVF and has purchased a heritage church in South Australia to renovate. Han and Can have continued to build a strong following in the design community since the show.
